    Introduction to IBD

    Welcome you to the interactive case – IBD

    This course is designed for gastroenterologists, surgeons, paediatricians, pathologists and other interdisciplinary medical experts interested in IBD. The intended result of this activity is increased competence, knowledge, performance and improved patient outcomes relating to the topic of IBD.

    Learning Outcomes:

    Upon completion of this activity learners will:

    • Identify the "red flags" that might indicate a new CD patient.
    • Gain insights into the basic epidemiology of inflammatory bowel disease.
    • Understand and identify the most important differential diagnoses of CD.
    • Gain insight into the appropriate use of faecal calprotectin in the diagnosis of CD.
    • Understand the basic principles of endoscopic diagnosis of CD.
    • Be familiar with the dietary needs of patients with CD.
    • Identify the most common extra-intestinal manifestations of CD.
    • Identify the variables at diagnosis associated with aggressive CD.
